Winyah Pharmacy hosted their 4th annual Educational Symposium in historical Charleston, South Carolina, on August 15, 2013, with more than 100 guests present. Each guest received approved educational hours for their attendance.

Some highlights from the Symposium include:

  • Dr. Richard Howell (Medical Director, Methodist Manor) presented a seminar on prescribing medications to the geriatric population and why it’s important to approach geriatrics in a unique manner.
  • The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control shared regulatory updates.
  • The Winyah Pharmacy Players performed the comical skit “Medication Administration.”
  • Greg Thompson, vice president of Premier Senior Living, gave an inspirational and motivational presentation and musical performance highlighting the many interesting ways to run a business in the long-term care industry.

On the evening prior to the event, participants attended a dinner program at The Peninsula Grill sponsored by Novo Nordisk.
