Guardian Pharmacy recently held its 2014 Pharmacy Management Meeting in Charleston, welcoming 97 leaders from 21 pharmacies. The three-day program was filled with breakout sessions and panel discussions where teammates involved in finance, sales and operations learned and shared trends and strategies.
Jodi DiNello, president of Senior Care Pharmacy, and others attended the opening address. Over the next several days, management leaders enjoyed sessions on topics like purchasing strategy and change management and panel discussions on operations and margin management.
Ken Paulsen and Debi Schulman of Guardian Pharmacy of Southeast Florida led an interactive session on ways that management teams can empower supervisors.
A highlight from the meeting was the annual awards banquet where Guardian honored individual pharmacies in cost to dispense efficiency, operating profit, gross margin, collections and growth. Waltz Long Term Care Pharmacy, Saliba’s Extended Care Pharmacy, Southern Pharmaceutical Services, Middle Tennessee Pharmacy Services and Guardian Pharmacy of Southeast Florida received Pharmacy Excellence awards.
In addition, Mick Holbrook, manager of business analytics, was honored with the Extraordinary Contribution Award, and Saliba’s Extended Care Pharmacy was named 2013 Pharmacy of the Year.

The management teams also had an opportunity to gather with fellow pharmacy leaders at nightly cocktail parties and dinners as well as enjoy the city with a round of golf, a carriage tour or a visit to the spa.
